Q-Secure Net
Quantum technologies are based on the manipulation of elementary particles such as atoms, photons, electrons, that obey the laws of quantum physics (superposition, entanglement…). Quantum Communication exploits the ability to manipulate single photons, for instance, in optical communication systems for security applications.
The WCS researchers are involved in a Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) project, “Q-Secure Net” funded by EIT-Digital, where CNR-IEIIT is partner with Italtel (Italy), UPM (Spain), Telefonica (Spain), CEFRIEL (italy) and Politecnico di Milano (italy). The goal of Q-Secure Net is to provide unconditionally secure quantum communication over metropolitan fiber-optic networks with QKD in a cost-effective and easy to implement way.
