IEEE CSS 2024 TC-HMS Outstanding Student Paper Award

Pierluigi Francesco De Paola is awarded the IEEE CSS 2024 TC-HMS Outstanding Student Paper Award

Pierluigi Francesco De Paola, PhD student at CNR-IEIIT and CNR-IASI has been awarded the IEEE CSS 2024 TC-HMS Outstanding Student Paper Award, with the paper "The Long-Term Effects of Physical Activity on Blood Glucose Regulation: A Model to Unravel Diabetes Progression,"  by  P. F. De Paola, A. Paglialonga, P. Palumbo, K. Keshavjee, F. Dabbene, and A. Borri, published in IEEE Control Systems Letters, vol. 7, pp. 2916-2921, 2023 (https://doi.org/10.1109/LCSYS.2023.3290774), and presented at the IEEE Conference on Decision and Control 2023.

The research deals with the study of mathematical models of type 2 diabetes progression and is carried on within the framework of the National PhD Program in Autonomous Systems (DAuSY) coordinated by Polytechnic University of Bari and in the framework of the European Project PRAESIIDIUM .

The IEEE CSS TC-HMS Outstanding Student Paper Award celebrates the exceptional research achievements of students in the field of healthcare and medical systems within the area of control technology. The prize will be awarded on December 2024 during the 63rd IEEE CDC Conference on Decision and Control in Milan.
